PURPOSE:The titled composition, obtained by incorporating anhydrous alumina particles having specific alpha-alumina content and average particle diameter, and having improved gloss imparting effect on the tooth surface, moderate polishing property and good cleaning power. CONSTITUTION:A composition for the oral cavity obtained by incorporating 0.01-60wt%, preferably 0.01-30wt%, based on the total composition, anhydrous alumina particles, having <=90% preferably 50-85% alpha-alumina content and 1- 5mu average particle diameter, and substantially containing no particle having >=10mu particle diameter in other components. The composition is capable of smoothing the tooth surface even in use thereof with calcium hydrogenphosphate anhydride, precipitated silica, calcium carbonate or aluminum hydroxide together without damaging the surface and imparting good gloss thereto. |
