PURPOSE:To allow proper exposure control by providing a means which makes weighing for the photodetected amount differ at the center part and the peripheral part of a solid-state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:For a douser 3 which is installed at the front surface of a CCD1, a hole 4 for passing light for only the center part is provided. Since a CCD1 is formed in this way, incident light irradiates only on the center part of the photodetecting part of the CCD1. Therefore, even if high luminance light falls on the peripheral part of the photodetecting part, it does not give the influence on the proper measurement of the photodetected amount. Therefore, proper exposure setting is executed. After executing weighing according to the position of the screen by using the douser 3 and calculating the amount of exposure, the douser 3 is removed at the time of reading of actual picture information. For the methed which makes weighing differ, the overflow drain may be devided into the center part and the peripheral part. Thus, proper exposure control is executed.
