PURPOSE:To prevent impact from taking place, by providing such an arrangement that the outlet opening surface of a discharge port severs as a valve seat in a discharge valve, and a shield plate serving as a valve element moves along the outlet opening surface of the discharge port in association with rotation of the drive shaft of a rotary piston to open and close the discharge port. CONSTITUTION:A shield plate 11 which is secured to the drive shaft 7 of a rotary piston 6 is formed in a notched disc-like shape having a diameter extending to the outlet port of a discharge hole 3a, and therefore the plate surface 31 and notch part 32 of the shield plate 32 alternately pass over the outlet of the discharge hole 3a. The plate surface 31 is smoothly formed, and confronts the outlet opening surface 33 of the discharge hole 3a with a fine gap therebetween. With this arrangement the shield plate serving as a valve element moves in association with rotation of the drive shaft along the outlet openine surface 33 of the discharge hole 3a serving as a valve seat to open close the discharge hole 3a, and therefore, a valve mechanism which is free from impact may be obtained, thereby the long life of the compressor may be realized.
