A device for the storage of goods which can be used on a cargo carrier, e.g. on a load-bearing plate, comprising a number of spaces arranged in a rectangular square pattern for cargo carriers and transport tracks for the moving of cargo carriers in at least two directions angled against each other between the different storage spaces. The transport tracks are comprised of support devices (18, 19) on which the cargo carriers can be moved, and the driver device (25, 26) for moving of the cargo carrier on the support device. The support device (18, 19) on each storage place is comprised of a first group of devices (18) which are designed to support the cargo carrier at a determined level during transport in the one direction, and another group of devices (19), which are designed to support the cargo carrier at the same level during transport in the opposite direction. The support device (18, 19) in each group is designed to be able to be moved away to a free position, in which the non-hindered cargo carriers movement of the support device in the other group, so that the cargo carriers can be moved in on respective out from each other formation places in who directions angled against each other, which gives an optimal use of the available space.
