BLOCK TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To cool blocks without using an intricate device and to prevent dropping of a cooling liquid into a slab by penetrating heat pipes into block casting molds, projecting the ends thereof and cooling the ends. CONSTITUTION:A suitable number of heat pipes 6 having high heat conductivity are penetrated into respective blocks 1 so as to intersect orthogonally with the moving direction and both ends of the pipes 6 are projected toward the outside of the blocks 1. Coolers 7 which cool both ends of the pipes 6 by a cooling liquid are further provided. If the cooling liquid is dropped successively from the coolers 7, both ends of th pipes 6 are successively cooled as the blocks 1 move. The blocks 1 are thus cooled from the inside. Cooling of not only both ends but one ends alone of the heat pipes is equally well.
