摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To save the energy required for rolling by dividing plural rolling mills into three stages, and making the diameters of upper and lower work rolls at the front stage large and equal to each other, and making the diameter of a work roll of one side at the middle stage smaller than that of the work roll at the front stage as well as making the diameter of a work roll of one side at the rear stage further smaller. CONSTITUTION:Both of large diametral work rolls 1, 2, capable of performing a high draft rolling, of the mills F1-F3 at the front stage are driven, and their crown controls are performed at the same time by providing bendings to the rolls 1, 2. Work rolls 9 smaller in diameter than the work roll 1 of the front stage are provided to the middle-stage mills F4, F5, and work rolls 15 smaller in diameter than the roll 9 are provided to the rear-stage mills F6, F7. By this mechanism, a large rolling reduction of rolling is performed at the front stage, and the quality of a material is controlled at the middle stage under the draft suitable for rolling temperature, and finish rolling is performed at the rear stage to finish the material into a desired cross-sectional shape. Because each process is allotted to each mill, the rolling energy is saved and the product quality is improved.</p>
