Sealing insert comprises fire-resistant outer covering contg. a reaily fusible inner covering at least partly filled with a mixt. of 8U-99 pts. wt. fire-resistant granular filler and 1-20 pts. wt. loose, swellable retardant. Pref. outer covering is cloth of glass or asbestos, surface wt. 15-5U0g./sq.m. Inner covering is of thermoplastic film, partic. polyethylene 0.U1-0.1 mm thick. Granular filler is quartz sand, fly ash, grcund limestone, waste Al2O3, expanded perlite, ceramsite, and/or cther mineral filler cf particle size max. 6mm. Retardant is mixt. of 15-25 pts. wt. NH4 phosphate, 5-15 pts. wt. tetra-to hexa-hydricpolyol, partic. pentaerythritol, and 4-14 pts. wt. urea, hexamine, and/cr melamine.
