PURPOSE:To perform automatic seam welding of a material to be welded having a cylindrical shape with high quality by providing a pressing roll mechanism which is provided with pressing rolls for regulating a lap allowance to a specified value and uses elastic materials as sources for generating the pressurizing force for the pressing rolls. CONSTITUTION:A guide 1 has an S-shaped cross section and both edges of a material 3 to be welded are inserted into the groove parts 1a, 1b thereof. The respective end faces are brought into press contact with the respective vertical planes 1a', 1b' of the grooves 1a, 1b by which a lap allowance S is regulated. The lower two rollers of pressing rollers 9 are mounted to the shafts fixed to a mounting frame 20 and the upper two rollers are both mounted to the shafts movable along the radial direction from the center of the material 3. The elastic pressurizing force by the elastic materials 10 of such rollers 9 bring the respective end faces of the material 3 into press contact with the respective vertical surfaces 1a', 1b' of the guide 1. The press contact force of each end face increases when the pressurizing force on each roller 9 increases. |
