PURPOSE:To secure a minimum width required for a product by adjusting the positions of knives of a side trimmer according to the width of a strip measured in a heating furnace under the condition applied with tension approximately at the maximum temperature of the strip. CONSTITUTION:A strip treating line includes a side trimmer 1, tension applying rollers 4 for applying tension to a strip A, and a sensor 6 for detecting the width of the strip A passing through a heating furnace 3. The side trimmer 1 has a pair of knives 7 and 8 arranged on both sides of the strip A so as to face each other across the strip. The knives 7 and 8 are mounted such that they are opened sidewards by theta deg. with respect to the direction of feeding the strip, while they are moved in the longitudinal direction of the knives by means of driving mechanisms 9 and 10, respectively. In such a manner, a minimum width required for the product can be secured. |
