The method for exchanging information between control devices in telecommunications switching systems, in particular telephone switching systems with centralised control devices and a multiplicity of peripheral control devices provides that information can be transmitted to a peripheral control device immediately following received information in each sampling stage if information to be transmitted is present in memories, and that switching on to the next sampling stage takes place immediately if no information has been received from the activated peripheral control device. It is furthermore provided that all information which is present in memories and is to be sent to the peripheral control devices is transmitted at a predefined stage of a sampling counter before a new sampling cycle begins. With this method, the occurrence of waiting times during information exchange, which could impair a function of the telecommunications switching system or telephone switching system, is avoided.
