PURPOSE:To improve and heighten an ignition property by providing one or more pseudo-electrodes insulated from the positive and negative electrodes in the middle of the positive and negative electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A pseudo-electrode 18 made of a conductor is provided in the middle of the positive electrode 14 and the negative electrode 20 while widening the interval between the tip part 14a of the positive electrode and the tip part 20A of the negative electrode opposed to more than double of the former. When a presribed high voltage pulse is continuously given, the first discharge spark S1 is generated between the peripheral edge part 14E of the positive tip part 14A and the edge part 18E1 on the side of the positive electrode while instantaneously generating the second discharge spark S2 between the edge part 18E2 on the negative electrode side of the pseudo-electrode 18 and the vicinity of the tip part 20A of the negative electrode. Further, inspite of the uncharged spark length as compared with the former one but owing to the large distance between the positive and negative electrodes, the spark generating range is widened so as to simplify ignition while reducing misfire and improving an ignition efficiency even when a mixture is not uniform because of uneven density. |
