PURPOSE:To reduce dimensional defects of gap depth of magnetic head core by arranging a hard ball at the tip part of a position adjusting screw of an elastic material jig to prevent foreign matters such as metallic scrap or the like from being caught between the tip part of the position adjusting screw and the elastic material jig. CONSTITUTION:A core 2 to be matched to a C-shaped core 1 is made slightly shorter than the core 1. Therefore, gap apexes 8 in both end parts of the C- shaped core 1 can be discriminated clearly from the front; and both cores 1 and 2 are attached to an elastic material jig 3, and vertical movement regulating screws 4 are rotated to move vertically the elastic material jig 3 through hard balls 10 arranged at tip parts of screws 4 while observing gap apex parts 8 through object lenses 7 connected to a microscope body 9 which measures two points simultaneously, thus matching gap apexes 8 to a preliminarily set reference line. Since partial gap apexes and the reference line are matched to each other in this manner, gap depth defects caused by slippage of the elastic material due to slipping-off of foreign matters caught during grinding work are reduced. |
