PURPOSE:To assemble a magnetic shield case and a color picture tube with their proper relation by providing a process for fixing a magnetic shield case on an assembly device which is determined by the shape of a magnetic shield case and a process for positioning a color picture tube on a assembly device so that a fluorescent surface reference point coincides with a slit which is provided on the reference axis of a magnetic shield case of a cover facing a fluorescent surface of an assembly device. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic shield case 2 is fixed with a magnetic shield case fixing bolt 6 on a side wall 111 which is determined by the shape of the magnetic shield case 2 of an assembly device 11. Then, a color picture tube 8 is moved by a positioning mechanism consisting of a color picture tube fixing bolt 14 and a stopper 13 while visually checking it from the upper side of a slit 12 through a magnifier, etc. so that a fluorescent surface reference point 17 coincides with the slit 12 provided on references X-X' and Y-Y' of the magnetic shield case 2 of a cover 112 in correspondence to a panel 3 of the color picture tube 8 of the assembly device.
