The invention relates to a method for continuously feeding wood during the cutting of chips in a fixed cutter-block chipping machine and to a device for carrying out this method, in which device the wood being cut is guided frictionally towards the fixed cutter-block axis by virtue of the fact that adjustable guide surfaces loaded by pressure medium absorb the cutting forces in interaction with separately controlled transport means in the feed shaft.
