The camouflage projector is used for camouflaging military or civil apparatuses, ground vehicles, ships or aircraft. The camouflage effect is achieved by projection of the surface colouring, which covers the body to be camouflaged as seen from the location of an observer, onto the surface of the body to be camouflaged. Projection process: A rangefinder measures the distance between the object surface facing away from the observer and the background surface being masked and transmits this distance (and possibly the angle) to the controller which hence adjusts and focuses a camera. The camera now films the masked surface and transmits its image to the controller. A second rangefinder now measures the distance from the object surface facing the observer to the observer's location and transmits this distance (and possibly the angle) to the controler which uses it to calculate the size of the surface masked by the body, as seen from the observer's location, and reduces the size of the recorded image to this size. After this, the controller passes the image to the projectors which project it onto the surface of the object.
