Mixing and homogenising of pourable bulk solids in silos is achieved by withdrawing material under the influence of gravity at different layer levels and mixing it in downstream mixing chambers. In order to simplify the process, a central mixing tube is installed, which has a plurality of partitions in a longitudinal direction and which takes in material at various bed levels and mixes it in the mixing chamber integrated into the silo. The mixing chamber and the central mixing tube are designed so as to be able to discharge displaced air or fluidising air into the upper silo space, without interfering with the material flow into the mixing chamber.
