In a rail fastening on wooden sleepers of the track construction for underground operation rail lines by means of screws and clamping plates, it is envisaged according to the invention that the clamping plates in each case consist of a sheet-steel round which, to form a curvature, is dished and on which wedge edges and a screw cutout are arranged concentrically and in such a manner that, on non-positive engagement of the screw part bearing the key faces with the clamping plate, which has been tipped towards the plane of the sleeper upper side and initially drawn along by the screw rotation, the wedge edge carries out a rubbing movement on the rail foot and the sleeper wood.
