PURPOSE:To provide a harmless paint which makes water condensed as dew on the surfaces of Al fins of a heat exchanger for refrigerator to be diffused on the surfaces of the fins, consisting mainly of a copolymer of a specified cationic monomer with a lower alkyl methacrylate. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic paint consists mainly of a copolymer of a cationic monomer of the formula (wherein R is methyl, ethyl; X is Cl, Br) with a lower alkyl methacrylate such as methyl methacrylate. Heat exchangers provided with fins made of Al are widely used for refrigerators. When the fin material has a non-treated surface, wettability is poor, water droplets are formed when condensed and bridges of the water droplets are built over the fins, thus lowering air conditioning or cooling performance. By coating the surfaces of the fins with said paint, condensed water does not stay but can be diffused on the surfaces, whereby lowering in the efficiency of the heat exchanger can be prevented and there is no possibility that water droplets are spouted out of the cool air outlet of the air conditioner.
