An electrically conductive polythiophene or substituted polythiophene, a procedure for its manufacturing and its use. The electrically conductive polythiophene or substituted polythiophene has been doped or treated with FeCl3 or with compounds containing FeCl4 anions. The electrically conductive polythiophene or substituted polythiophene is manufactured by treating it in a way known in itself in the art with a fluid containing salts which comprise FeCl3 or FeCl4 anions. The polythiophene is used as a positive electrode in an electro-chemical cell, as an electrically conductive film, powder or other product.
