PURPOSE:To perform good printing free from batter tailing, by mounting a mechanism for changing the amount of printing energy supplied to a thermal head and a mechanism for changing a printing cycle corresponding to said applying energy amount. CONSTITUTION:A density signal (a) is simultaneously inputted to a pulse width determination mechanism 2 and a printing cycle determination mechanism 3 from a density setting mechanism 1. The pulse width determination mechanism 2 sends a pulse width signal (b), wherein a printing power applying time was increased by a predetermined time in order to realize objective density, to a head driving part 4 which, in turn, drives a thermal head 5 according to the printing image signal (e) out from a printing image signal generation mechanism 6. The temp. of the heat generator of the thermal head 5 becomes high corresponding to the increment in a pulse width and printing density rises but, at this time, a timewise margin is taken before the temp. of the heat generator of the thermal head 5 is sufficiently cooled after printing and, therefore, the printing cycle determination mechanism 3 sends out a printing cycle signal (c), which is increased in a prdetermined amount by the density signal (a) sent from the density setting mechanism 1, to the head driving part 4. |
