PURPOSE:To execute a measurement in a short time and with a high accuracy by moving an optical wave distance meter installed to a supporting device inserted into a furnace, on a prescribed shaft against the furnace body, and also measuring a furnace wall profile by rotating it centering around its shaft. CONSTITUTION:A supporting device 58 provided with a measuring head 20 on its tip is inserted into a furnace from a furnace port 12 of a converter 10, and an optical beam is emitted from the measuring head 20. In this state, a distance extending from the measuring head 20 to an inside wall 16 of the converter 10 is measured, and rotating the supporting device 58, the supporting device 58 is moved by a prescribed distance each along its shaft, for instance, at every one rotation. As a result, a computer 22 calculates momentarily a distance from the measuring head 20 to the furnace wall, and calculates an inside wall profile from its integrated data. |
