PURPOSE:To suppress increase of lamp current, and reduce temperature increase within a case and efficiency drop of a discharge lamp by filling a heat conductive insulator in a space formed in the bottom of a discharge lamp and radiating heat generated in a stabilizer outside a case. CONSTITUTION:A heat conductive insulator 10 is filled and cured in a space 23 formed in the bottom of a case 4 of a discharge lamp 1. The insulator is formed by mixing a good heat conductive material such as titanium oxide or iron oxide as a filler in silicone resin. Most of heat generated in a stabilizer 3 is effectively conducted to the case 4 through the heat conductive insulator 10, and directly radiated outside the case 4 from the outer surface of the case 4. Since a space 23 exists between the bottom 12 of the discharge lamp 1 and the heat conductive insulator 10, heat conduction from the stabilizer 3 to the lamp 1 is remarkably decreased compared with that to the case 4. Therefore, influence of heat to the discahrge lamp is considerably reduced. |
