PURPOSE:To attain the control even with a magnetic disk device having any physical address by an existing logical address, by using a head/cylinder address conversion means which converts a logical address into a physical address and an interruption signal transmission means to an upper device. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk controller sets the contents of a bus 1 to a logical cylinder address register circuit 2 by a cylinder selection signal 1'. At the same time, the contents of the bus 1 are set to a logical head address register circuit 4 by a head selection signal 2'. A logical head address and a logical cylinder address are converted into a physical head address 3' and a physical cylinder address signal 4' respectively by a ROM within a logical/physical address converting circuit 5. A decoder circuit 6 receives the address 6' and selects and fixes a head in a disk enclosure 7. While a physical cylinder address register circuit 9 sets the signal 4' by the signal 2'. The output of a delay circuit 8 sends the signal to a seek control circuit 10 to start a seeking action.
