PURPOSE:To save water to be used and increase the Na concentration of a solution containing Na ash to be obtained at the same time, by circulating the solution containing Na obtained in the step in a vacuum slag suction apparatus and thereafter for use. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron (molten steel) is dephosphorylated and desulfurized with soda ash. In the process, the resultant slag is removed in a vacuum slag suction apparatus (VSC). The discharged slurry containing Na is carbonated and dephosphorylated to recover the soda ash. In the above-mentioned treating method, the solution containing Na obtained in the step in the VSC and thereafter, e.g. a discharged solution obtained by separating massive slag, a filtrate of a slurry formed in the carbonation step or a filtrate formed in the desulfurization step, is circulated as at least part of the water to be supplied to the VSC.
