PURPOSE:To perform filtration securely by providing a filter medium layer and a settling section in a water tank. CONSTITUTION:When feed water is fed from a feed water inlet 13 and reaches an inside of a feed water introducing chamber 5, coarse materials in the feed water are settled by its own weight and are intruded into a settling chamber 6 from an inlet port 7 of the settled material provided on a partition wall 4 and are accumulated there. There is no fear for causing intrusion of the coarse material into the feed water introducing chamber 5 by the effect of the partition wall 4. The feed water from which the coarse material has been separated by this way, is filtered by a filter medium layer 9, and is discharged thereafter to the outside of the water tank 1 through a filtrate water outlet 18. Since the feed water is filtered by the filter medium layer 9 after the coarse material has been separated, secure filtration is performed.
