PURPOSE:To eliminate clogging of a filter automatically and completely and to obtain normal filtration efficiency when a filter medium is clogged by dust, etc. by dispersing foreign matters in a filter scale storage chamber to a suspending state and cutting coarse dusts forced out of the filter scale chamber with a cutter. CONSTITUTION:When a filter medium 6d of a filtration device 6 is clogged and the pressure drop between a feed liquid inlet 4 and a filtrate outlet 5 reaches a fixed value, an electromotive valve 11 is opened automatically, then, water begins to be discharged from a guiding frame 18 for discharging backwashing water into a backwashing water discharging pipe 15, and the filtrate water flows back through the space between the filter medium 6d. Thus, in a filter scale storage chamber foreign matters brought into suspended state by the swirl stream generated by a partition plate 6c or sticking only lightly to the filter medium 6d, are discharged to the outside through said guiding frame 18, hole 17, and the discharging pipe 15 of the backwashing water. Further, coarse dusts forces out of the filter scale storage chamber 7 are cut by a cutter 19 and are contained in an adjacent succeeding filter scale storage chamber 7, and then discharged to the outside through said guiding frame 18, and backwashing water discharging pipe 15.
