PURPOSE:To improve efficiency for separation and collection of mist or wet dust by utilizing great influence of the shape of a baffle plate on the separation and collection of mist or wet dust. CONSTITUTION:A conical, pyramidal, or wedge-shaped baffle plate 1 having ca. 60-ca.120 deg., pref. ca.80-ca.100 deg. vertical angle is used. The baffle plate 1 is installed in a gas stream flowing with ca.1-ca.15m/sec, pref. ca.2-ca.10m/sec flow rate in a guiding jacket with its vertex directed oppositely to the direction of the gas stream. For example, when hume generated by a hume generator 4 is guided to the guiding jacket 2 and the hume is allowed to move upward to collide with the baffle plate 1, the hume is separated into mist and air, and the separated mist is caught by the baffle plate 1, and dropped into a collecting vessel 5. Thus, mist is separated from the gas stream almost completely.
