PURPOSE:To obtain a novel tough resin, having improved solvent resistance, and suitable for electrical parts, etc., by reacting a polycarboxylic acid, containing ester bonds, and obtained by reacting a polyhydric alcohol with an excess polycarboxylic acid with a bis(2-oxazoline) compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polycarboxylic acid, containing ester bonds in the molecule, and obtained by reacting a polyhydric alcohol, e.g. ethylene glycol, with an excess polycarboxylic acid, preferably a dicarboxylic acid anhydride such as succinic anhydride, preferably 1:2 molar ratio usually at 100-250 deg.C is reacted with (B) a bis(2-oxazoline) compound, e.g. 1,3-bis(2-oxazolinyl-2)benzene preferably at 1.1-3mol ratio between the component (B) and the polyhydric alcohol preferably in the presence of a catalyst at 200-250 deg.C to afford the aimed resin.
