PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of sparks to the surface of a work, damage of a condenser lens owing to the sparks, etc. with a titled device using an auxiliary gas for working by stopping the irradiation of a laser beam when the detected value of the pressure of said gas has decreased to a prescribed value or below. CONSTITUTION:Data is inputted to a numerical control device 6 as required and a work 5 is set. A laser oscillator 2 is operated together with the device 6. The laser beam from the oscillator 2 passes through a gate 17 and is reflected by the mirror 3a in an optical head 3 and is irradiated to the work 5 through a condenser lens 3b and a nozzle 3c. On the other hand, a device 7 for supplying an auxiliary gas for working (expressed as G) feeds the gas G to the nozzle 3c according to the data of the device 6. The nozzle blows the gas to the point where the laser beam is irradiated thereby blowing off the sparks scattering from said point and protecting the lens 3b. When the supply rate of the gas G has decreased during working, a pressure switch 15 detects the decrease and a controller 16 operates to shut off the laser beam with a gate 17 thereby interrupting the irradiation to the work 5. |
