PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and stable coated film layer by forming a thermally sprayed film having electrical conductivity on the surface of a pattern, providing a refractory mold coating material layer thereon then packing molding sand into the pattern and heating electrically the thermally sprayed film. CONSTITUTION:A thermally sprayed film layer 2 consisting of a metallic material such as solder or copper having electrical conductivity is formed on the surface of a pattern such as wooden pattern. A mold coating material layer 3 consisting of graphite or the like having refractoriness is provided therein. A molding sand mixture added with an inorg. or org. binder is then packed thereon. Electricity is conducted to the film layer 2 by an electrode 5 disposed to the layer 2 to heat said layer. The layer 2 is transferred onto the surface of a casting mold by such electrical heating and at the same time a sand mold 4 solidifies so that the casting mold consisting of the sand mold 4 formed with the mold coating material 3 on the surface is formed. The uniform and stable mold coating material 3 having high dimensional accuracy is efficiently formed by the above- mentioned method even in the case of a pattern having an intricate shape. |
