PURPOSE:To set up a printing mode, a supply mode, a pressurizing mode, a circulating mode, and a storing mode by a method in which an opening and closing means and a pump operable in both normal and inverse directions are set on the way of a supply path. CONSTITUTION:The operating states of the pump 56 of an ink supply system and the opening and closing states of valves 50A, 52A, and 54A are switched. The pump 56 is stopped, the valves 50A and 52A are opened, the valve 54A is closed, and ink is supplied to the head 4 (printing mode). The pump 56 is operated normally, and ink is supplied from a tank 40 to a tank 39 (supply mode). The valves 50A, 52A, and 54A are all opened, the pump 56 is operated inversely, and ink is circulated in the direction of R (circulating mode). When only the valve 50A is closed, a pressurizing mode in which ink is pushed out of the nozzle results. When the valves 50A, 52A, and 54A are closed and the pump 56 is stopped, a storing mode results. |
