PURPOSE:To support plural kinds of magnetic disc devices only one kind of control means by automatically changing I/O instructions responding to input instructions generated from respective magnetic disc devices in accordance with the kinds of the magnetic disc devices connected to a magnetic disc device control device. CONSTITUTION:Each I/O instruction consists of an operation code OP, a device No. part DVN indicating a control means including the input instruction and a function part FUN indicating the operating contents of the input instruction. In this case, DVN0 indicates an I/O instruction for a fixed disc device and DVN1 indicates an I/O instruction for a medium replacing type disc device. The DVN0 and DVN1 are discriminated by discriminating circuits 1, 2 to change the control flags 3, 4 of respective discriminating circuits 1, 2, unit types and the contents of registers 6, 7.
