PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of an index file and to confirm efficiently a soft copy of a fiche by performing retrieval on skip read basis by using previously formed indexes covering the range of a fiche group. CONSTITUTION:When the retrieval conditions of target information are inputted, a work station 11 collates the input conditions with indexes stored in the index file 13 to determine the address range of a fiche to be retrieved, and reporting it as an address signal A to a microfile 10. The retrieval part 9 in the file 10 controls a support part 3 and a microfiche file 4 with the signal A to set the fiche corresponding to the starting address of the address range in an optical system, and the whole image of one sheet is sent to the station 11 through a photoelectric converting element 6 and a signal processing part 7 as an image signal D, which is displayed. When the reading operation is completed, the fiche corresponding to the next address is drawn out and a new display is made similarly, so the fiche is retrieved on skip read basis. |
