The invention relates to equipment for gasifying solid, liquid and/or gaseous carbon carriers in the reactor vessel under atmospheric pressure, wherein the solid carbon carrier forms a solid bed moving downwards through the vessel interior, to which gasifying agents, for example oxygen and steam, as appropriate together with the liquid and/or gaseous carbon carrier, can be fed in counter-current, it being possible to take off the product gas in the upper region of the reactor vessel and to discharge the molten slag which forms by means of a rotary grate via an annular channel at the lower end of the reactor vessel. In order to be able to gasify carbon carriers having differing ash properties without any problems, it is essentially provided according to the invention that the rotary grate is adjustable vertically, that is to say in the axial direction.
