A conveyor belt device, especially for transporting people underground, has lateral longitudinal struts and transverse supports which are arranged at a distance, connect the longitudinal struts and have bearing blocks for at least one roller at least on the outside, a flexible conveyor belt being movable via the said roller. To ensure that the danger of injury from such a conveyor belt device is as small as possible and that its assembly is as simple as possible, metal covering sheets (8, 31, 32) which in each case project inwards from the two longitudinal struts (2) are arranged between the rollers (28, 29, 30).
