PURPOSE:To obtain cast iron having superior wear resistance and high strength as cast by specifying the contents of C, Si, Mn, Ni and Cr and adding a specified amount of B. CONSTITUTION:This wear resistant cast iron consists of, by weight, 2.00-3.00% C, 0.50-1.00% Si, 0.50-2.00% Mn, 2.00-5.00% Ni, 10.00-15.00% Cr, 0.50-1.50% B and the balance Fe with impurities. The hardness of the cast iron is improved by adding B so as to form a compound with Ni, and the cast iron has superior wear resistance and high hardness as cast. The cast iron is obtd. at a low cost without requiring the addition of a hardnenability improving element.
