PURPOSE:To enable to print clearly, by providing a non-contact heating means for focusing light on a thermal transfer ink roller provided on the front side of a printing paper to thereby heat the roller. CONSTITUTION:A focusing lens 13 is fitted to a carriage (not shown) so that it can be turned in the directions of arrows C. The lens 13 is so located that rays L incident thereon are focused on the outer peripheral surface of the thermal transfer ink roller 10. Since the roller 10 is heated by the rays L focused by the lens 13, a melted ink does not adhere to the heating member, and it is possible to print clearly. In addition, since the roller 10 is heated directly and printing is conducted when the roller 10 is rolled on the paper 9, heat transfer efficiency can be enhanced, thereby reducing power consumption, and it is possible to print with uniform density irrespectively of the thickness of the paper 9. |
