PURPOSE:To accurately discriminate defects of a compressor and a transistor by detecting the increase in a DC current in the minimum time from the start of the compressor to the stabilization of the compressor, and judging a defect when continuing the detections plural times. CONSTITUTION:When a comparator 3 detects the increase of a DC current (hereinafter referred to as ''a DC peak''), a compressor is stopped for Tmin and then recovered. The second timer 8 operates simultaneously when the compressor is recovered, and counts for t2 time. If a DC peak 33 is outputted during the t2 time, a counter 9 records first. Then, the compressor is stopped for Tmin, and recovered. If stopped within t2sec at the DC peak 34, the counter 9 records second. Judging means 4 receiving the signal delivers a complete stop signal to a digital unit 6. Thus, the reliability of an air conditioner is improved.
