<p>In order to suppress the noise in an audio signal comprising a useful signal part and a noise signal part, according to the present invention the original audio signal is first analysed before it is digitally recorded. Simultaneously, the level of the noise signal part is detected and analysed separately, the detection values as reference noise signal being stored into a computer while keeping the phase relation with the original audio signal. The recorded digitalized signal is then processed by the computer at a certain speed and its noise signal part is compensated as a function of the stored reference noise signal. A unit for implementing such process comprises an analogue reproduction apparatus (1) for an original master tape (3) and analogue/digital converter (4), a digital recording apparatus (6), a noise signal separation apparatus (7), a memory device (11) for storing the reference noise signal, a digital reproduction apparatus (24) and a processor (9), the compensation of the signal reproduced by the digital reproduction apparatus (24) being a function of the noise signal data stored in the memory device (11).</p> |
