Method for determining hydrogen peroxide and substances reacting with the formation of hydrogen peroxide, characterised in that the hydrogen peroxide is determined colorimetrically with a reagent comprising an N-alkylaniline of the general formula I <IMAGE> (R1 = H or lower alkyl group, R2 = lower alkyl group) and a 4-amino-1-phenylpyrazol-5-one of the general formula II <IMAGE> (R3 = H or lower alkyl group, R4 = H or lower alkyl group). The reagent according to the invention comprising I + II has the advantage that the ready-mixed substances I and II in a solution are stable at room temperature even over a period of weeks. Furthermore, the quinoneimine dye formed is stable and has an absorption maximum in the higher wavelength spectral region at 560 mm. Finally, with reaction times of 3-5 minutes, the action of the reagent is advantageously rapid.
