Reclining-type cycle

Reclining-type cycles are a promising way of reducing the drag of a cyclist. However, at the same time they must offer sufficient riding safety and be lightweight and technically simple. The solution according to the invention minimises the risk of injury since the handlebar is not located in front of but rather below the rider, provides a large degree of manoeuvrability and a low weight as a result of a short design, the front wheel being located behind the pedal bearing, permits a simple and low-loss direct drive without deflection since the seat is attached above the connecting line between the pedal bearing and the rear axle, and minimises the drag as a result of the virtually horizontal position of the legs and semi-upright lying position of the upper body. An extremely lightweight webbing seat could provide a high degree of impact damping and adapt itself to any movement of the body during the pedalling process. Partial or full body coverings are possible as protection against wind and weather. Extendable support wheels can facilitate starting up. The coupling of the front wheel can be direct and thus technically simple but also indirect and thus more accessible.
