The invention relates to a roasting or cooking vessel, comprising a pan lower part having a substantially flat or slightly concave inside bottom surface and an adjoining inside side wall surface which rises gradually, for example at a mean angle between 20 and 50 DEG , if appropriate in a slightly concave manner with an increasing inclination up to a height of preferably about 1/10 to 3/10 of the diameter of the pan opening, and having a flat standing surface of a diameter, for example, in the region of about half the diameter of the pan opening, and comprising a pan lid which is of a similar dome-type design in its basic shape. To ensure tight resting of the pan lid on the lower pan whilst maintaining a slight overpressure inside the vessel, provision is made according to the invention for a pan edge to adjoin the side wall of the pan lower part, which edge encircles the pan at the top and is bent outwards, and in which there is a peripheral groove which receives condensation liquid, and for the pan lid to protrude with a correspondingly peripheral edge bead into the groove which receives the condensation liquid. <IMAGE>
