OPTICAL DISC CARTRIDGE

An optical disc cartridge (1) is provided which offers protection to the radiation-sensitive recording layer (5) from damage due to mishandling while at the same time allowing a high recording density. The radiation-sensitive layer (5) is applied to a rotatably supported disc-shaped member (3) which is completely surrounded by a sealed enclosure (7). An access window (29) is then formed in the enclosure (4) through which a laser beam (31) may be focused for the recording and reading of information on the radiation sensitive layer (5). A magnetic drive may be used for rotating the disc-shaped member (3).
