PURPOSE:To carry out Ni-W alloy plating by using a metallic article to be plated as a cathode, a stainless steel material as an insoluble anode and a weakly acidic aqueous soln. contg. tungstate, nickel salt and citric acid or citrate as an electrolytic bath. CONSTITUTION:When a metallic article to be plated is electrolyzed as a cathode, a weakly acidic aqueous soln. contg. turngstate, nickel salt and citric acid or citrate is used as an electrolytic bath. For example, the electrolytic bath has a composition contg. 70+ or -30g/l Na2WO4.2H2O, 60+ or -20g/l NiSO4.6H2O and 100 + or -30g/l citric acid. the pH of the bath is adjusted to 6+ or -2, and a stainless steel material is used as an anode.
