PURPOSE:To obtain a white light-emitting phosphor which exhibit high brightness and is freed from problems of color non-uniformity and flickering when used in cathod-ray tubes for a display device, by embodying white light emission in a specified overlapped region by mixing an orange light-emitting phosphor with a blue light-emitting phosphor. CONSTITUTION:A phosphor embodies white light emission in an overlapped region of the range of 0.2<x and y<0.4 in CIE chromaticity coordinates (x, y) and the range of 0.15<= formula I <0.7 by mixing an orange light-emitting phosphor of formula I (wherein 0<=alpha<0.04) with a blue light-emitting phosphor of formula II (wherein 0<=alpha<0.04; A is Na, K). The luminous efficiency of the orange light emitting phosphor is as substantially high as that of the blue light- emitting phosphor and hence, the phosphor mixture exhibits high brightness in the mixed white light region. The orange light-emitting phosphor has substantially the same exciting current/brightness characteristic as that of the blue light-emitting phosphor and afterglow exhibits united characteristics in the region of 0.15<= formula I (0<=alpha<=0.04)<=0.7 so that the phosphor mixture is freed from the problems of color non-uniformity and flickering.
