In a hair curler for styling hair, a curling bar (13) is mounted rotatably in a handle (1) and can be actuated for setting up or folding down the curler teeth (14) by means of a longitudinally guided slide member whose radial cam (32) engages in a radial curve (34) formed on the curling bar (13). According to the invention, the slide member is a sliding sleeve (5) which can be displaced on the connection end (4) of the handle (1), and a helical spring (30) is fitted on a continuation (12) protruding into the hollow space (3) of the handle, which helical spring loads the sliding sleeve (5) in the direction of the forward feed position in which the curler teeth are set up. <IMAGE>
