PURPOSE:To invalidate leakage of the personal code number and to prevent the illegal use by making it possible to alter the personal code number, which is registered and stored in various types of devices, into arbitrary contents by user himself at an arbitrary time. CONSTITUTION:When a user wants to alter his personal code number, first, he may insert a mgagnetic card 1 into a magnetic card reader CRW2. As a result, the personal code number stored in the card 1 is read out, and the personal code number to identify the user himself is inputted from a value setter 3. The inputted personal code number is provisionally stored in a personal code temporary storage device 4, transmitted to a personal code number decision device 5 together with the personal code number read-out by the CRW2 on a magnetic card, and the prescribed corresponding relation between them is investigated. If the corresponding relation is affirmed, and the user himself is identified, the data to become the new personal code number is inputted from the value setter 3. The inputted data is transmitted to the CRW2 through the device 4, and the personal code number on a magnetic card is rewritten. Consequently, if there is leakage of the personal code number, the illegal use can be prevented. |
