PURPOSE:To electrify the surface of a dielectric material having an electric charge holdability and the surface of an ordinary photosensitive body by electrifying simultaneously the surfaces of the two dielectric materials or both surfaces of one dielectric material. CONSTITUTION:Paper 1 is sandwiched between the surface of the dielectric material layer of an electrode plate 2 having a dielectric material layer 2-a and the other electrode plate 3 in tight contact therewith. The electrode plates 2, 3 are connected to each other via a DC bias power source 4 and an AC power source 5. An AC voltage biased with a DC voltage is impressed between the plates 2 and 3 and corona discharge is generated in the air in the paper 1 to generate positive and negative ions as well as electrons. The generated positive and negative ions and electrons are respectively attracted toward the directions of the electrode plates 2 and 3. The polarity of the DC voltage of the plate 2 is positive and therefore the negative ions and electrons generated in the paper 1 are attracted to the plate 2. The negative ions and electrons pass through the paper plane 1-a and stick onto the surface of the layer 2-a provided on the surface of the plate 2. The surface of the layer 2-a is thus electrified. |
