<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a driving circuit by dividing driving circuits for each group of recording elements and applying selectively power source voltage only when each driving circuit requires. CONSTITUTION:Electric heating elements (recording elements) 1, the same in number with the total number of picture elements in a line, are arranged in a line on a thermal head. The elements 1 are divided into four groups of the specified number of elements, and driven one group by one group successively shifting time. Transfer of a picture signal PIX to be recorded by the elements 1 of the first group and inputting of a shift clock CLK are started. At the same time, a controlling signal CS1 is turned on, a switch 14A is closed, and the power source voltage Vcc is applied only to a driving circuit 2A. Thus, the power source voltage Vcc is applied to each driving circuits 2A-2D only in the period of transfer of picture signals to be recorded by the elements 1 of corresponding group and in the period of driving heating elements, and power source voltage Vcc is not applied in other period. Accordingly, power consumption is reduced remarkably.</p> |
