An automatic Willison type coupling head comprises a horn 3 projecting from the small jaw 2, and an abutment face 4 underneath and behind the large jaw 1, wherein faces 5a-5f on a front projection 5 of the large jaw 1, faces 6a, 6b on a rear projection 6 of the small jaw 2, faces 3a-3e on the horn 3, and faces 7a, 7b between the projection 5 and the face 4, cooperate with similar faces on the other coupling head to ensure coupling of the heads by effecting alignment of level of the heads, and angular alignment between the heads in the horizontal plane and in the transverse vertical plane, and wherein the horizontal faces 5e, 5d of one head co-operate with the horizontal faces 6a, 3b of the other head prior to locking of the heads to ensure angular alignment in the transverse vertical plane and alignment of level, of the heads. A recess may be provided in the large jaw 1 to accommodate a lateral hook of one type of coupling head. The head may have one or two air couplers. |
